Cultural Exchange Program

The Cultural Exchange Program is a visa granting work experience located at Vanity Projects in NYC. The program is designed to provide practical training and employment, as well as sharing of the history, culture, and traditions of participants' home country in the United States in a multitude of ways: the design in question, the method in which the design is being painted, the service itself, and the customs that exist in Japan therein. Participants will learn from their American counterparts from all over the United States who are part of the existing Artist in Residency program including our anchor artists, and will learn new skills like airbrush techniques in which American artists working at the salon have become experts and educators. In addition to exposure to top celebrity nail artists, program participants will also have the opportunity to further grow their skills through our online nail art program, Vanity Projects Institute. Outside of salon work, participants will have the opportunity to work with national and international brands, like Nike, HBO, Chanel, McDonalds, and many more, through Vanity Projects Events. In addition, participants will experience creating nails at New York Fashion Week and for fashion editorial work, celebrities, award shows, concerts, and more.

When the artists have time off they will be required to participate in various American cultural experiences including visiting museums, sporting events, Broadway shows, etc.

Vanity Projects has become the go-to for top celebrity and fashion insiders like Sasha Obama, Whoopi Goldberg, Serena Williams, Adriana Lima, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Lily Allen, Sam Smith, Adam Levine, and many more over the years. This invaluable cultural experience will be shared with the Q1 applicants as well as their parents in Japan, who will be so proud of their accomplishments upon their return — a meaningful part of Japanese culture.
